Twenty four year old German Striker Lukas Podolski, will be a key player for Germany in the 2010 World Cup. Podolski has always played at his best for Germany and had the most personal achievements on the international stage. Podolski is currently a top scorer. Podolski is a versatile player and is known to be very creative with the ball as well as explosive. Podolski must live up to his reputation this world cup, as in the 2006 World Cup he was named the Best Young Player. Podolski’s success has won him a variety of endearing nicknames such as the prince of Cologne and the shooting star of Germany.
The young German team has been placed in Group D for the World Cup and is up against Australia, Ghana, and Serbia. Yet, since the qualification rounds Germany’s future has looked promising, finishing qualifications Podolski’s teammate Klose was the third top goal scorer in the tournament. Germany finished Australia, scoring four goals and not letting any in. Lukas Podolski broke the game open, scoring the first goal for Germany with a left footed shot in the eighth minute. Podolski was named man of the match. Germany is predicted to beat Serbia and will most likely make it out of group play to the second round of the tournament. Germany is also one of the favorites of the entire tournament.
